Day 1 - Make a Countdown to Christmas Chain
Day 2 - Write a Letter to Santa
Day 3 - Go to the Zoo to See ZooLights!
Day 4 - Frosty the Snowman Movie Night
Christopher stopped bring treats on joke days but the kids didn't seem to mind.
What do you call a snowman party?
A snowball!
Day 18 - Play Christmas Memory
I'm so glad that this day was a simple one. Ashlynn caught the croup that Dawson had the week before so she was miserable and I had a nasty 24 hour stomach bug that was kicking my butt. Dave had to work at noon that day so I was on my own trying to take care of the kids and myself. It wasn't the best day ever but I tried my best to still make it a good one. I had printed out this Christmas Memory game when I printed our Christmas Bingo game. My plan was to cut them out and glue them to red and green cardstock so we couldn't see through the paper and to make them more Christmasy. But because I wasn't feeling good I just cut them out and let them be. Me and Daws played twice. The first game he didn't notice that you could see through the paper but by the second game he did! He won pretty quickly because of that. ;) I thought it was funny. Here is a picture of him looking closely at the paper trying to see what was on the other side to find his match.
Day 19 - Take Christmas Treats to Family and Friends
Luckily I was feeling a lot better on this day. I had to work for half the day so Dave took over and made the rice krispy treats and chocolate chip cookies. When I got home I finished up the cake pops and put the boxes together.
We took them to our neighbors, family, and friends. It was a lot of fun. We gave them to our neighbors and told them Merry Christmas but when it came to our family and friends we decided to leave the treats on their doorstep, knock, and runaway. We watched them from our car open their doors and get their treats and we were giggling the whole time. It was a lot of fun. Ashlynn's too young to really understand what we were doing but Dawson thought it was fun and hilarious. It was a good night!
Day 20 - Go Look at Christmas Lights
We got a Christmas package from Dave's parents right before we were about to go look at Christmas lights on this day. There were a few wrapped presents in there and some binoculars for each kid. Talk about great timing!!! As we were driving to go see the lights we passed by two temples. Dawson always points out Angel Moroni as we pass by and he thought it was awesome that he had binoculars and could get a really close look at Angel Moroni now. His exact words were "this is so cool!!" It was awesome to see him so excited!
I love this picture of him in his carseat, he looks like such a big boy!!! (Those are his binoculars in his hand)
I couldn't get as good of pic of Ashlynn because she's still rear facing in her carseat but I thought it was sweet that she had her hands together in her lap. (And if you look closely you can see her reflection in her mirror.)
This year we went to look at the lights at Thanksgiving Point. We'd never been before and liked the idea of being able to stay in the car and drive around to see all of the lights.
And a Christmas tradition that we do every year that we're in Utah (that started when I was kid) we had to visit this neighborhood. Every house on the street is decorated really cool and they tell the story of the Night Before Christmas on signs in their yards. As Dave started reading the signs Dawson would finish for him, he knows about half the story by heart already. It was cute to hear him tell it.
This stocking on the side of one of the houses was one of Dawson's favorites.
Day 21 - Joke Day
What does a gingerbread man put on his bed?
A cookie sheet!
Day 22 - Christmas Movie Marathon Day
No pictures to share from this day, we just had Christmas movies on TV all day. Ashlynn's favorite is Frosty the Snowman so we watched that one three times! We also watched The Grinch a few times (I was hoping to hold off on that one because I knew we'd be watching it the next day but the kids really wanted to watch it). And I can't remember what else... lots of Christmas movies, though! :)
Day 23 - How the Grinch Stole Christmas Movie Night
Tonight is our Grinch movie night. I don't have anything special planned. This is the night I was most excited about, too, but I'm worn out. *lol* So we'll just watch the movie and eat pizza for dinner.
Day 24 - Bake Cookies for Santa
Tomorrow night me and the kids are going to bake and decorate sugar cookies for Santa!
Day 25 - Christmas!
I hope everyone has a safe and very Merry Christmas!
