Just a quick update because I feel like I'm getting behind again!
I'm sure I have written about this already but Dawson is really, really in to the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. He's read most of the books completely on his own! He's on book 20 already (he just started reading them at the first of the year) and he's also read four of the research guides that go with the books. He just got five more research guides from the library today and he already started reading one of them AND he's taking notes on it. Amazing.
We're homeschooling and he's doing well but it's a struggle most days. He'd rather be playing.... or doing anything else besides school. Once we get started for the day it's usually fine... it's just getting started is the hardest part. I've been trying to decide if it would be best to send him to school next year. I've applied for a couple of charter schools in our area. They'll hold a lottery within the next few weeks and then notify the parents of the kids who got in. If he gets in to one of them then we're going to have to really think about it and make a decision! He wants to stay in homeschool, but I'm sure if he did go to school he would love it.
Ashlynn has been sick for the last week or so with a cold. I think she's finally getting over it! Besides taking a little cat nap here and there she hasn't let it slow her down. She LOVES going outside to play and would probably live out there if we let her. We haven't had much of a winter so it's been spring-like weather here for a few weeks now. The kids have really enjoyed it. They pretend that the playhouse in the backyard is a tree house and they play Magic Tree House and go on adventures together.
Ashlynn is still enjoying dance and looks forward to it every week. Her partner in one of her dances is Megan and she just loves her! She tells us often that Megan is her best friend. I need to ask Megan's mom if she happens to live around here... wouldn't it be awesome if she did?! Ashlynn would be in heaven!
Both kids want to play soccer this spring. I'm looking forward to going to both of their games! Both of their games will be on Saturday mornings so we have to hope and pray that the weather will be nice (last time Dawson played soccer it was FREEZING and it felt like torture going to his games) and we have to hope and pray that their games won't be at the same time or else Dave and I will have to split up and each of us watch a game. I don't want to miss either of their games!
We went to the zoo on Monday and renewed our membership that was due to expire in April. I believe this will be our 4th year with zoo memberships, we love going as often as we can! It's only $100 for the four of us and we always get way more than our money's worth!
