We Miss Dada!
I took this video last night, I was trying to get him to say mama again but he still wont. It's been a while since Dave has heard him talk since every time Dave calls, Dawson is more interested in trying to eat the phone rather than listening or talking. :-P So this video will probably make Dave pretty happy.

He's an Animal!
It's been a few days since I have posted anything...there hasn't really been much going on to keep everybody updated with.
Dawson is still scooting around everywhere. Last night was the first time he got up on his hands and knees but it only lasted a second. Usually he's up on his knees and forearms and he'll rock back and forth really quick. He does it all the time but I have yet to get it on video.
For some reason his favorite thing to play with is the dvd player. I have to move him away from it about 50 times a day...and I am not exaggerating! I've even tried moving it back on the entertainment center so he couldn't reach it but that didn't work. He ended up climbing on the glass to get to it. That probably doesn't make much sense unless you have seen our entertainment center and I'm too lazy to take a picture of it right now. :-P I'm exhausted from chasing him around all time! I don't even want to think about what it's going to be like when he starts crawling and walking! He's already an animal! *lol*
I did find a new toy for him to play with, though. I forgot all about this Leap Frog table that my mom had bought him for Christmas, I noticed it today in the front room (we NEVER use that room) so I got it out for him. I had to take the legs off the table so he could reach it but he really seemed to enjoy it. In fact, he scooted AWAY from the dvd player to come play with the table. Hopefully it's his new favorite thing to play with...I guess we'll see.

I couldn't get him to look at me for the pictures, he was too busy playing.
Dawson has a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. After he got his 6 month shots, over a month ago, I noticed a little lump in his right leg where they had given the shot. I think that's pretty normal, I've felt a lump in my arm after I've gotten shots and it usually goes away within a couple of days. Well, the lump in Dawson's leg hasn't gone away yet and like I said, his shots were over a month ago so I'm a little concerned about it. I'm sure they are going to tell me that it's no big deal but it's better to be safe than sorry, right?
I'll be sure to update the blog after his appointment on Tuesday. :-)

7 Months Old
Our baby boy is 7 months old today! I can't believe how much he has grown and how much he has learned in just 7 months! He is such a fun, smart, happy and active baby boy! I (we) feel so blessed to have him.
As I posted in the last couple of blogs he has recently learned to scoot (or drag) himself across the floor. I thought I was chasing him around a lot when he just knew how to roll...that is nothing compared to now! I can't even completely empty the dishwasher before he's getting into something that he's not supposed to. It seems like he always goes for the dvd player or the wii fit when I am not looking.
He has also started to get on his knees and rock back and forth a little bit...I don't think it's going to be long before he starts crawling. I'm hoping he will wait until Dave gets back (in less than 2 weeks!) before he learns to crawl. I get so excited and happy when he learns new things but at the same time it makes me sad that Dave is not here to see it too. :-(
He still can't sit up for more than a couple minutes before he falls over but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it soon. Just before I put him down for his nap he was playing on the floor and it looked like he was trying to sit himself up! He tried 4 or 5 times before I finally helped him sit up...and then he fell over. *lol*
Anyway, here are a couple of pictures that I took of him today while he was sitting on mommy and daddy's bed:

I also added a new picture to the right side of our blog.

He's on the Move!
I know I just posted a video of this last night but I have to post another one! I am so proud of him! I also want Dave to be able to see! :-)
Excuse the ugly legging things...he was wearing shorts and I didn't want his legs to rub against the carpet. If anybody knows where I can buy some cute leggings (if that's even what they are called) let me know! The ones that we have were a gift and I haven't seen them in stores.

He's a Scooter!
Today has been a busy day for Dawson! First he starts sitting up for longer periods of time and now he has started scooting across the floor! Of course he did it more before I pulled out the video camera but I got him going a little bit.
I put 3 different videos together in this one video, the first part is how he was scooting before I turned the camera on...getting up on his knees and pushing off. The second part of the video is him saying hi, I thought it was cute so I had to include it. And the last part of the video is him scooting a little more.
This was right before bedtime, I'm anxious to see what he does tomorrow when he's full of energy! :-)

This is the first time I have uploaded video to blogger, I usually use photobucket or youtube but photobucket says my video is too big and Dave can't view youtube videos from the ship so I am hoping he's able to see this one! :-)
(I uploaded the peek-a-boo one to blogger, too, hopefully you can see it now.)
We miss you, dada!!!

Sitting Up!
I think we are finally making progress when it comes to sitting up! For about a month or so now Dawson would only last 5-10 seconds before he would fall over. We practice sitting up a few times a day and today when I sat him up I was surprised to see how long he sat there!!! He lasted a few minutes at least! Definitely the first time he sat up long enough for me to grab the camera!
Yay Dawson!

He LOVES to play so it helps when he has a toy that he can play with. If I try to sit him up without a toy he will purposely lean over to grab a toy which results in him falling over. :-P
He did pretty good without a toy in between his legs, too. He was leaning more but still able to keep his balance.

He still falls over...

But he's definitely making progress!

Peek-A-Boo...Again!
I already posted a blog today but I wanted to show Dave this video that I took before I got Dawson out of his crib earlier. It's too big to send to him in an email so I figured I'd post it here.
I posted a picture a few blogs ago of him peeking out of his crib so when I saw him doing it again today, I had to grab the video camera this time. :-D

Moving
Dawson is taking a nap so I've finally got a couple minutes to update our blog!
I'll start off with some pictures that I just took of Dawson. When I laid him down for his nap he was a little whiny but he wasn't crying so I decided just to listen to him over the monitor. After a couple minutes it got quiet so I went to check on him and this is how I found him...

I thought it was cute that he got comfy in the corner of the bed. I had to take the pictures without a flash because I didn't want to wake him up and I tried to lighten them up a little with photoshop. The quality isn't that great but I think they are cute pictures anyway.
I put a deposit down on an apartment in Utah yesterday! Dawson and I are going to be moving back there for the 6 months that Dave is deployed. I'm excited to be moving back but I am also really sad that Dave isn't going to be able to come with us.
When Dave's deployment is over, at the beginning of next year, me and Dawson will move back to San Diego again. Moving is going to suck but it will be so worth it, so me and Dawson can be close to family while Dave is gone.
Dave's ship has been gone for almost 2 weeks and we still have almost 2 weeks until he's home...I'm already having a tough time being here by myself, I know I definitely wouldn't be able to handle it for 6 months!
We have a lot to do before we move! I want to have a yard sale and get rid of most of our furniture. All of our furniture is really old! Hopefully we can make a little bit of money to put towards new furniture! I'm really not looking forward to packing. I have a feeling that I am going to throw away a lot of stuff (or put it in the yard sale!) that we haven't used or even SEEN in years! I want to pack and move as little as possible. I'm tired of having so much stuff/junk.
I think we should be in Salt Lake by the 24th or 25th of next month. We'll unpack all of our stuff and get settled into the apartment and then we are going to drive to Denver to visit Dave's family. I also have a little bit of family in Denver so it will be nice to see them, too.
I better wrap this up, Dawson is awake already! I think his nap only lasted about 15 minutes which really doesn't surprise me. He usually sleeps on his belly so when I saw him on his back I figured it wasn't going to last.

Mother's Day Pics
There hasn't been much going on here lately. Dawson and I have just been hanging out at home for the most part.
I got a little bit of video of him turning around the other day. It amazes me how fast he can get around already. I am constantly chasing after him and bringing him back to the middle of the room and he can't even crawl yet! But he gets into everything!!! By rolling and turning himself around he can get anywhere that he wants to go.
I wish I had video of him rolling and turning so you all could see how fast he is but for now I just got him turning around. :-)
I've also been meaning to post some pictures from mother's day. We went to dinner with Dave's uncle Richard and aunt Ellen, this picture was taken on the walk back to their hotel. I think Dawson was a little too heavy for Ellen, she didn't look very comfortable when she was holding him. :-P

Here is Dawson in the shirt that Dave got him to wear. It looks more like a 4th of July shirt but I still love it! His hand is kind of in the way but his shirt says, "Mommy's Pride and Joy"

And lastly, these were taken once we got home.

It's Here, It's Here, It's Here!!!
Dawson's convertible car seat is HERE! Yay! He's not quite ready to move out of his infant seat yet but I am so happy knowing that when he is ready to make the switch, we are prepared!
It's a Britax Boulevard and I am so in love with this seat! I've been researching and pricing car seats for months now and I really feel confident that our little man is going to be safe while riding in the car.
One of the things that I LOVE about this car seat is that Dawson is going to be able to stay rear facing until he is 35 pounds! (Or until his head is an inch away from the top of the shell and you'll see in a minute that he has plenty of room to grow.) They say that a car seat can be turned around once the child reaches 1 year of age and is at least 20 pounds but it's much safer for them to stay rear facing until they reach the maximum weight (or height) limit that the seat allows for rear facing. I am a strong believer in extended rear facing!
Also this seat can hold forward facing kids up to 65 pounds! So we're going to have this car seat for quite a while. It was a little expensive but I bought it when it was on sale, plus I had a coupon code so I was able to save almost $80!
Here is Dawson trying out his new seat:

He wasn't very happy that I put him in it but I was so excited when it came today that I couldn't resist! :-)
Here is pic of Dawson showing off the spongebob hat and pj's that dada got him.

My Little Stinker
I've been really bad at updating this lately. It's hard when Dave is gone...especially when our little one is refusing to take a nap but is extremely tired. Ugh.
We had a WIC appointment today and they weighed and measured Dawson. He weighs 22 pounds (dressed) and is 28 inches long! Can you tell he likes to eat? :-P He has tried 8 out of 10 stage 1 fruits and vegetables, he only has peas and prunes left to try before we move on to stage 2! So far he has liked everything we have given him. *knock on wood* Stage 2 baby foods include stuff like veal, turkey, ham, chicken, mangos, apricots...hopefully he will like everything. I've already stocked up on stage 2 foods, I think I have 23 new flavors for him to try...my kitchen counter looks like a grocery store shelf, since we have no cupboard space for baby food. *lol*
Here are a few pictures that I took today. The first set is what I saw when I went in to check on him when he was supposed to be taking a nap...

He was pulling down the bumper so he could see out of his crib.
Peek-a-boo!

And these are just of him playing...

He is going to be a great driver...

And lastly, this is a picture that I took last week while we were at the park. I love it.

We miss you, dada!

Short Blog
My mom has been asking me to post a picture of me when I was a baby next to a picture of Dawson for like a month now but I kept forgetting!
So here it is...

So what do you think? Do we look similar? Can you tell that he is mine? *lol* Whenever people see Dave and Dawson together they always tell us that there is no questioning that he is Dave's. So Dave said next time somebody says that he is going to tell them that we are starting to question whether or not he is mine! (Joking, of course!)
I've been meaning to post this video, too. I took it a few days ago and thought it was pretty cute. I was about to fold Dawson's clothes but before I could get to it he rolled over the laundry basket and started sticking his hands in the holes. So I decided to put him in there again, he seems to like it a lot. It may become his new playroom. :-P

Hi Baby Boy!
I only have a minute but I wanted to post this video that I took yesterday. We went out to dinner with Dave's aunt and uncle and while we were waiting for a table this lady started waving at Dawson...and he waved back!!!
I was shocked! We've never seen him wave before! So I pulled out my cell phone and told Dave to wave to him so we could get it on video.
Enjoy! :-)

Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day!!!
I figured I would take a few minutes to update our blog really quick while Dawson is napping and Dave is in the shower.
I'm enjoying my first mother's day with Dawson. :-) This morning when I woke up, Dave had already been up and gotten Dawson dressed. Dawson is wearing a shirt that says "Mommy's pride and joy!" I love it! Dawson (and Dave!) got me a couple gifts, too. It was really sweet because Dawson was holding the bag with my gifts in it, I thought he was going to hand it to me but once I tried to grab it, he pulled it back towards him and didn't want to let go. It was super cute.
They got me a mother's day card that you can record a message on...the beginning of the message is Dawson saying "mama". I love it. Dave had to record him saying mama off the video that I got of him saying it because he wont say it anymore. He just says dada now. Little stinker. :-P
They also got me Tori Spelling latest book, Mommywood, which I am so excited to read! I love Tori Spelling and I loved her first book, sTori Telling.
They also got me Yes, Man on dvd. That's one of my new favorite movies, it is so hilarious!
And for breakfast Dave made me eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and toast. It was yummy!
I have a couple videos that I want to add of Dawson. The other day we went to the park for a picnic and they had a baby swing so we decided to see how he liked it. I wish you were able to hear Dawson better in the video, he was talking but sounding really calm. It was cute.
It was a little a windy so we were trying to keep him covered up so he wouldn't get cold and the blanket gave him a little bit more support.
This next video we took while he was eating carrots for the first time. He loved the carrots and he thought I was being pretty funny. :-)
Lastly, I wanted to say congratulations to my friend, Jessica! She had her baby girl, Harmony, this afternoon! 7lbs 11oz and 20 inches long! What a great mother's day present! It's kind of neat that she had her today, not only because it's mother's day but because Jessica was also born on mother's day, 26 years ago! (May 8th, 1983)

Fun Day at the Beach!
We had an awesome day at the beach today. :-) There was a small amusement park just off the beach...I took a ton of pictures so I'll just go ahead and get started with those!
Our first stop was the merry-go-round. Dawson loved it!

Look at that smile!
For most of the ride he was looking out at everything that we were passing, it was tough to get him to look at me for a picture!
Then we made our way down to the beach...
Dawson loved watching the waves and digging his toes into the sand.
We got a couple people to take some cute family pictures of us. :-)

We had such a good time, I can't wait to go back! This was our first time at this beach and it is definitely our new favorite! We love it!
There was a couple wave pools where you can try out your surfing skills...I'd like to see Dave do it one day. :-P We watched a few guys try it and I think they all fell within a few seconds. *lol*
This isn't the best picture since we were behind a fence but if you click on the picture to enlarge it, you should be able to see it better. It's a picture of one of the guys that was trying to surf, luckily he stayed up just long enough for me to snap a picture!

I loved the look of this Beach Treat hut and the ice cream looked so good!
Here is the picture of the roller coaster...I took the picture from the parking lot, I wish I would have taken it a little closer so you could see it better but oh well. I'm sure you all know what a roller coaster looks like anyway. *lol*

Here is a picture looking down the beach at all the little shops and restaurants...

And looking down the beach towards the ocean...
These last pictures are of the park that is right across the street from the beach. It's so pretty! I look forward to having picnics there, for sure!

And last but not least, we got some video...
Our first stop was the merry-go-round. Dawson loved it!
Look at that smile!

A Little Bit Of Everything
I have decided that I don't want this week to end! Last Friday Dave came home from work and handed me some papers...they were his leave papers! He surprised me with 9 days of leave!!! Yay!!!
A couple months ago I kept asking him to take a couple days off because I just wanted to spend some time together as a family. His ship goes out all the time and when he is here, he has duty all the time. It seems like his duty days always land on the weekend so he usually only gets one day off a week to spend with us. I was getting pretty frustrated that he is never home so I told him for my birthday (which isn't until August and his ship is going to be deployed by then anyway...) I wanted him to surprise me with a week off of work!
I love having him home! His ship is leaving for 3 weeks as soon as his leave is over...I don't even want to start thinking about that yet though! I'm just happy that he is here now! :-D
We took Dawson to the pool yesterday and he loved it. He loves splashing around in the water. We took a few pictures...this first one is funny because he is sticking his tongue out, like usual.

I took this picture right before we left for the pool, we put sunscreen on him and Dave gave him another mohawk. This one turned out better since his hair was wet from the sunscreen.

These pictures are from last night, he got his first taste of sweet potatoes and he loves them. He likes to try and feed himself...

So far he has tried squash, sweet potatoes and bananas. I said I was going to wait until he tried all the veggies before he tried fruit but he hasn't been eating his cereal very well lately so I decided to mix some bananas with it and now he loves it. I think he is going to try applesauce tomorrow morning. :-)
Dawson has started to move around a lot more. He is not crawling, nor is he even close to crawling but that isn't stopping him! He's learned that he can get where ever he wants by rolling and turning himself. Last night I left him on the living room floor with a few toys while I went into the kitchen to rinse some dishes. A couple minutes later when I came back into the living room I found him in the corner where we keep all the toys.
Excuse the mess...he has a lot of toys already.
So this is where I left him...

Those toys weren't enough I guess because this is where he ended up. (I have to add that this happens a few times a day...no matter where he is on the floor, he always ends up in the toy corner.)

And this goes along with my last post...look at what he found in that mountain of toys...

Yep, a tag. He was sucking on it. It was kinda funny especially because I had just made a post about it.
I think that is about it for now. I'm looking forward to going to the beach sometime this week and I'm sure I'll have a lot of pictures to share. :-)

Got Tag?
For a couple of months now we have noticed that Dawson LOVES to suck on tags. If a toy has a tag, he will find it and it will end up in his mouth.
Obviously he is not the only baby that does this because there is a company that makes "Taggies". Dawson has a couple different Taggie items, like a Taggie blanket...

That is not the exact blanket that he has but you get the idea.
He also has this:

The ball thing is not a "Taggie" but it's pretty much the same concept.
And finally he has a Taggie book:

It has little "taggies" on every page, as well as on the cover.
But can you guess what his favorite part of all these Taggie items is???
...
...
...
The TAG!

He can find the tag on ANY toy, it's pretty impressive if you ask me. :-) Not even the "taggies" can confuse our little genius. :-P

I also wanted to post a couple pictures that I took of Dave and Dawson last night.
