Our First Day At Disneyland

I've been trying to decide how I wanted to write our Disney posts because I have a ton of pictures to share. I've decided the easiest way to do it is just do a separate post for each day, so there will be 3 Disney posts, I'll post the next one tomorrow.

It only took us about an hour and a half to get to Disneyland from our house, the drive is pretty quick and easy. Dawson was really good during the ride. This is the best picture that I could get of him since his carseat is still rear facing. You can see his cute little face in the mirror if you look closely. :)

We were staying at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, it's a beautiful hotel and super close to Disneyland which was perfect for us.

We got checked into our room at the front desk but we were there early and our room wasn't ready yet. They said they would send a text message to my phone when our room was ready which we thought was really cool.

It didn't matter to us that our room wasn't ready because we had reservations at Goofy's Kitchen at 11 for brunch and we had about 10 minutes to get there. Goofy's Kitchen is in the Disneyland Hotel which was about a 5-10 minute walk from our hotel. Talk about perfect timing!

When we got the restaurant, before they took us to our table they asked if we wanted to get a picture taken with Baloo. Yay! We had just got there and we had already met our first character and had gotten our first autograph! (Goofy's Kitchen is a character dining restaurant so we knew we would see characters, we just didn't realize we'd see them right away.)

While we were eating a few more characters came to our table to talk/play with Dawson and sign our autograph book. We met Jasmine...

And Dale...

And Goofy! Dawson loved grabbing the characters noses as you will see in many pictures. *lol* All the characters were great and didn't mind if Dawson was grabbing their nose or poking their eyes.

As we were leaving I saw that Pluto was waiting out front for people to take pictures with him. There wasn't anybody waiting to see him so I asked if it was ok if we went back there and got a picture with him.

Then it was off to Disneyland!

Right when we walked in we saw Mickey and Minnie! We got to meet Mickey but Minnie was leaving by the time we were done with Mickey.

Me and Dawson in front of Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse and the castle.

As we were walking back to see how long the lines were for some rides we saw Alice, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts!

The first ride that we rode was It's A Small World. Dawson loved looking around at everything and dancing to the music.

Here is some video from inside the ride.

We headed to Toontown next. I was excited to see this little jail with rubber bars! I have a picture of me behind the bars when I was like 16, it's cool to see my husband and son visiting the same place I was over 10 years ago. I need to find that picture and see if I can get it scanned and then I'll put it in the blog.

After Toontown we decided to take the train around the park.

Dawson tried to pull the sword out of the stone... he was really close to getting it. ;)

We wanted to go on Dumbo, but the line was too long so we settled for taking a picture in a Dumbo statue that they have sitting next to the ride. Check Dawson out...he's having a blast, you'd think we were on the actual ride.

We watched a parade, but I didn't get very many good pictures of that. I was standing behind a bunch of people and since I'm short I really couldn't see much. *lol*

And lastly here is a picture of Dawson and his balloon.

It had a picture of Mickey's face on the other side of the balloon and he loved it! We had to buy the balloon as soon as we found it because all day Dawson had seen kids walking around with balloons and he would say balloon over and over and reach for them. We knew he wanted one so bad and it absolutely made his day to get one. You can't tell in the picture but the balloon lite up, it was really cool.

That's about it for our first day at Disneyland. Check back tomorrow to hear all about our second day.

I am so glad you guys had such a nice trip. I can't wait to see more pictures! The Grand Californian is a beautiful hotel. It is so funny to see pics of the castle now (I haven't been to DisneyLAND since about 2002 or so) because the one in Florida is about twice as big! One of Ashlyn's favorite rides is it's a small world, too. YAY, I'm still excited for you guys. lol
