Dawson thinks his Elmo remote is a phone. (He usually doesn't use it as a phone but he was tonight)
And he still thinks it's pretty funny to spit his milk out...
I love this outfit. The pants are a little long and have to be rolled up (they are size 18 months and 12 month pants are too short, go figure!) but I love it. And actually the pants came with a gray race car shirt, but I love his "Ruff Guy" shirt.
Yesterday it hit me that he is becoming our little boy and isn't a baby so much anymore. I still think of him as my baby, and probably will for awhile, but he is just growing and learning so much. He has started answering me if I ask him a question, like "Do you want a snack?" He'll say "yeah!" or "Do you want to go bye-bye?" "Yeah!" I love it, it's really cute. He doesn't always answer me but he has been doing it more and more.
And I keep forgetting to tell this story, it happened a few weeks ago and it really amazed me and I want to look back and remember it so I need to put it in our blog! Anyway, we were going out to run errands and I was putting him in his carseat and there was water dripping from the carport. He asked "what's that?" and so I told him water. He asked again and again I told him it was water. And then he said "wawa." It was so cute! Then a few hours later when we came back home the water was still dripping and I had forgotten all about him saying water (or wawa) earlier, but as I was getting him out of his seat he pointed and said "wawa." I couldn't believe that he remembered! He says it all the time now. While I'm running his bath water, if I start the washing machine, anytime he hears or sees water he says wawa.
I counted the other day and he says (and knows) at least 16 words. I remember Brandee telling me at Drea's 18 month checkup that her pediatrician said she should be saying 20 words by 20 months. I don't want to jinx it, but Dawson is almost there at 14 months. I really can't believe how well he can communicate already. Even if he wants something that he can't say he'll find a way to make sure that I know what he wants.
And as of this morning (I started typing this post last night) he is now answering me using the word no. Except it sounds like na. *lol* For breakfast he had a banana and some blueberries, he hasn't been the best eater lately so he took like 2 bites of his banana and he was finished. He wanted his dada. (That's what he calls his binky, I have no idea why. Why I ask him where his binky is he knows what I am talking about, but he calls it dada.) So anyway, I decided to keep him in his highchair and try to get him to eat a little more. I went and got his binky so he wouldn't freak out and after a few minutes I took his binky and asked him if he wanted a bite (of his banana) and he said "na, dada" translation...no, binky. Little stinker. I tried for at least 5 minutes to try to get him to eat more but he kept telling me no.
An hour or so after breakfast he went into the kitchen and pointed at the cupboard and said "num-num" so I gave him a nutri-grain bar. He ate about half of that. He used to be such a good eater. Now he barely eats anything for breakfast or dinner, but he still does pretty good for lunch. Hopefully it stays that way. And then he snacks throughout the day, too. Every hour or so he's in the kitchen asking for num-nums. If it is getting closer to lunch or dinner I won't give him a snack when he asks for it, but that usually doesn't help. Hopefully he starts eating better again soon!
