Time For Play

I just posted yesterday about Dawson's birthday so if you missed that don't forget to check it out.

I just wanted to do a quick post about new things that Dawson has been up to. I like to try and add things to our blog not long after they happen so I don't forget. And a few years from now it will be fun to go back and read what Dawson was doing when he turned 2.

Anyway, he has just recently started doing a lot of pretend play. Well, I'm sure a lot of his play has been pretend for awhile now but he has just started vocalizing what he is playing a lot better.

For a couple of days now he has been asking me to take the label off my water bottle and he'll stick it wall or whatever and has a lot of fun with it. Tonight he put it on his head and told me they were his glasses. (He was wearing it like how you would wear your sunglasses on top of your head when they're not on your eyes.) And then he said "bye bye, Mom, I go to beach" and he walked away. It was so cute. He came over to me a couple minutes later and handed me that water bottle label because it had fallen off his head and he asked me to put his "glasses" back on and then he told me he was going to the beach again. He was having so much fun pretending that he was leaving and I enjoyed just sitting back and watching him. It's so neat to see him using his imagination.

We need to buy him a new pad of blank art paper because he loves to draw and he's already filled up a whole notebook. He will tell me that he is drawing me (it just looks like scribbles, but I love it) and then he tells me that he's drawing Dada. It's so fun to see him doing new things.

Like I mentioned in my last post I did give him one present on his birthday even though we aren't officially celebrating it for a few more weeks. He got a shape puzzle. He has been able to identified and name a few shapes for awhile now like square, triangle and circle. (He also knows star and heart but those aren't on the puzzle. The puzzle has 9 different shapes on it and so far he knows 5 of them (3 he already knew before). The 2 new ones that he has learned are diamond and oval. He is getting close to knowing octagon and pentagon, but he gets them mixed up a lot of the time. I'll have to post some video of him doing the puzzle and naming the shapes that he knows soon...I'll probably have it posted by this weekend.

That's it for now! :)
