Brave! A Mini Family Movie Night

Brave came out on blu-ray today!!! Yippee!!! I have been excited to buy this movie since we saw it in the theatre months ago. Ashlynn didn't go with us so I was really excited for her to see it. She is getting more and more into watching movies. Dave had to work tonight so he wasn't able to watch it with us. :( I would have planned it for a night that he had off but we are busy on both of his nights off already. I kept everything pretty simple, but it was still one of the most fun movies nights we've had. Maybe it's because the kids are getting older. I really wish Dave could have been here and then it would have been perfect!

I had the table decorated up a little bit. We bought this Brave play set after we saw the movie in theatres. We opened it when we bought it and let Ashlynn play with Merida but we kept all of the other characters in the package. I figured tonight would be a good night to get them out. :)

I also made some Brave movie tickets for us to use.

And a closer look...

I bought some Brave plates and napkins from the party store and couldn't pass up getting some goblets, too. I got four of them because I figured we'd use them again. Dawson LOVED drinking out it, he thought it was really cool!

(Oh, don't mind the leaves. Those are some of our fall decorations, I took everything else off the table but didn't feel like picking up the leaves. *lol*)

I figured Ashlynn is a little too young to try drinking out of a goblet but I made sure to get her Brave cup out for her to use. :)

While I was getting dinner ready (leftover pizza, I didn't do a themed meal this time) the kids were coloring some Brave coloring pages that I printed off for them. Here are Ashlynn's...

I printed off three of them for each of them but she only colored two.

And here are Dawson's...

He wrote "I ♥ U MAA" on one of them. Love! I let him know that he left out an M in mama and he went and fixed it by putting the M over the first A. MMA haha I love it. :)

After we finished eating dinner it was time to watch the movie and eat our snacks!

We bought those popcorn things from Target's dollar spot a few months ago. I printed out some Brave wrappers to wrap around the top of them, filled them with popcorn, put a special bear snack in there (I got the idea from a friend that threw her daughter a Brave birthday party a couple of months ago), and put some Brave fruit snacks on top. Any guesses on what the kids' favorite part was?! Yep, the bear, of course. :) I started the movie and took a quick pic of each of them.

Dawson is only in his underwear because after dinner he went potty and fell in the toilet. *lol* I had to give him a quick bath and ALL of his pjs were in the dryer but still damp (yeah, I was a little behind on laundry) so he had to go without for a little bit. He didn't mind at all, though.

And here's Ashlynn getting into the movie from the start. :)

Dawson remembered a lot of the movie from the first time he saw it and really liked it. Ashlynn really liked it, too! She would make little comments like when Merida is trying to get out of a room and breaks something Ashlynn said "uh-oh trouble" I guess she thought Merida was going to be in trouble for breaking something. And she'd ask, "bear. where it go?" And little things like that. It was super cute. She is talking SO much now!

It was a lot of fun! I love being able to do things like this with my little family. We'll have to plan another soon so dada can join in on the fun! :)

I love it! Your movie nights are always awesome. I love the idea of putting a wrapper around the popcorn bucket. I need to get some of those. I've thought about it when I've seen them in the dollar spot before, but I'll just have to go ahead and get them next time I see them. :)
