11 Months Old

Our baby boy is 11 months old today! I can't believe he is almost a year old. Seriously. I can't. It seems like this year has flown by! I can not even explain what a blessing Dawson is to our lives. The other day I was sitting next to Dawson on the floor just watching him play. As I was watching him I was thinking about how lucky we are and how much I love him! Dave has been gone for almost 3 months now (even though the ship has only been deployed for about 2 months) and it's hard not having him around, but Dawson makes it a lot easier. He is always so happy and loves to play and keep me busy!

It makes me sad that Dave is not able to see him growing and learning new things. It could be worse though. I am very thankful that we are able to share pictures and videos via the internet. And occasionally we get to talk on the phone, too! Yesterday Dave called and we got to talk for almost an hour! It was nice. Before we got off the phone he asked if he could talk to Dawson, which we always try to do if Dave calls while Dawson is awake. Usually Dawson will pull the phone away from his ear because he wants to see and play with the phone, but today was different. Dawson let me hold the phone up to his ear while Dave talked to him and Dawson even talked back...he had a lot to say! It was really sweet. I, of course, got super emotional after that. It made me happy that he was actually talking to him, but it also made me sad because I know how much they miss each other.

I need to start writing about something else before I can't write anymore!

A few days ago I was watching Ellen and something she said made me laugh. Dawson was sitting next to me and he looked over at me and he started to laugh, too. It was so cute. It was totally a fake laugh, but it's neat to see him copying me. It's happened a few times since then, too, always when I'm watching Ellen...she's hilarious and apparently Dawson thinks so too!

I can't remember if I've written about this before, I'm sorry if I have! *lol* Dawson has favorite foods already and he knows right when he sees them that he wants them first! I don't think I've come across anything that he doesn't like yet...I take that back. For some reason he doesn't like toast, he ate it twice and now anytime I try to give it to him he wants nothing to do with it. Anyway, I try to give him a little bit of a variety at every meal. For instance, for breakfast I might give him diced peaches, cheerios and some yogurt melts. He ALWAYS eats the yogurt melts first. Today for lunch he had a jelly sandwich and some fries. He ate the sandwich first. And for dinner he had spaghetti with mixed veggies (peas and carrots) and believe it or not, he ate the carrots first! :-) It's fun to see what he goes for first. I know that yogurt melts will beat out anything else I put on his tray and carrots usually do, too. I wonder what would happen if I gave him yogurt melts AND carrots at the same time... *lol* I'm not going to find out for sure, but I'm almost certain he'd eat the yogurt melts first.

Here are a few pictures that I have taken recently...

Dawson eating another one of his favorite snacks...lil crunchies!

Always so happy...

I can't even tell you how many times a day I have to put the books back! All of them! I wish I could just leave them on the floor until the end of the day because I know he is just going to keep pulling them down, but it drives me crazy to see a big mess on the floor so as soon as he is done playing with them, I put them back. I guess it's worth it because he has fun pulling them all down. :-)

Almost got them all...

Check out this cute hooded jacket that my dad and Carrie got for him:

Ok, so you can't really see the jacket but it's a cute picture! And he looks adorable in the jacket. (Now that he has this he doesn't have to wear the Nuggets jacket anymore! Yay!)

And another one...with the hood on this time...

Time to pull down some more toys...

A couple of weeks ago I met my sister at the grocery store so we could do our shopping together. My sister had gotten there first and was pushing a cart with a car on the front of it and my niece was driving. Dawson kept looking down at Drea (he was just sitting in a regular cart) so I decided to put him in there with her. He LOVED it! Drea climbed out about halfway through the store but Dawson drove around the whole time. :-)

And last but not least, when Dawson was taking a nap a few days ago I went in to check on him and this is what I saw:

He fell asleep on his daddy doll (that's the back of it) I thought it was so sweet. I sent the picture to Dave after I took it and he said it was one of his favorite pictures. :-)

How sweet! He's so handsome. I have to say it made me tear up hearing how he talks to Dave on the phone. Too sweet.
