Our Move to San Diego

I'm a little late in posting this, but me and Dawson made it to San Diego! My mom drove with me and Dawson and my dad drove the moving truck. We drove straight through and it was a pretty good drive. I'm impressed with how well Dawson did, he didn't start getting cranky until the very end, like, the last 15 or 20 minutes of the trip. My mom drove the whole time and I sat in the back with Dawson to keep him entertained.

He tried on my sunglasses...

He read a book...

Watched some SpongeBob...

And laughed with Mama...

It's hard to tell in that picture because he has his binky (or his dada as he calls it) in his mouth, but he's got a pretty big smile behind it.

We had to stay in a hotel the first night that we got here, then we got up the next day, went and got breakfast and then I went to sign the lease. That turned out to be a bigger hassle than I thought it would be, but we finally got the keys to our place a little after 2pm.

I have a friend named Sandy who I know from a website that I am on, she has a son that was born a few days before Dawson (she also has 2 daughters) and her hubby is also in the Navy AND they just moved to San Diego a few months ago. Her and her husband, Ed, were nice enough to come over and help us unload the truck and unpack a bit. Sandy brought dinner, too, she is so sweet. I am SO happy that I already have a friend out here! Last time we were in San Diego I didn't know anybody.

Here are some pictures of Dawson and Landon. I am SO happy that he already has a friend here, too!

I think Dawson is blowing a kiss in this picture.

I love Landon's smile, he's so cute!

Here they are just playing...

My mom and dad had to leave the next day, but we got most of the downstairs unpacked so I wasn't too stressed out about having to do the rest by myself.

Dawson threw up a couple of times the day my parents left (Saturday) but he wasn't acting sick, so I really didn't think much of it. Then the next day he had really bad diarrhea, so bad that I had to change his pants and clean the carpet (or wherever he was when he went) every time he had a dirty diaper, which was a few times an hour! And I am not exaggerating about that at all. I had to do his laundry at least once a day because he was running out of clothes to wear. The diarrhea lasted for 3 days and then he started puking again. He couldn't keep anything down and all he wanted to do was lay down and sleep. It was really sad. :( I laid on the carpet with him and just rubbed his back. He probably threw up 7 or 8 times in about 6 hours, luckily by this time the diarrhea had stopped so at least I was only cleaning up puke.

The next day he was all better...and then it was my turn. I was sick for 2 or 3 days. No fun at all. I am thankful for a few things, though. 1- At least Dawson didn't get sick on the drive down here. That would have sucked. I'm glad we were somewhat settled in our new place when it happened. And 2- I am very thankful that we were not sick at the same time. Cleaning up his diarrhea and puke was exhausting. As soon as I would finish getting something cleaned, I'd have to start all over. I couldn't have done this if I were sick then. We are both all better now. :)

I have almost everything unpacked, except 2 boxes that I have in a closet downstairs. Once I get everything cleaned (I keep forgetting to buy Comet!) and get some pictures hung up I think it will start feeling like home. I already LOVE where we live. I LOVE our house (actually it's a townhouse) there are some things that I don't like about it, but they are just little things (like how small the pantry is! *lol*). I love that we live right across the street from a community park. I love the view we have from the living room. I could go on and on. I really like it here. This is the first time that I have lived in military housing and I'm really happy that we decided to live here.

There was a community bbq at the park across the street from us that we went to last night, I was going to post about it right now but I already shared a lot of pictures in this post so you'll have to wait to read about the bbq until tomorrow. It was a lot of fun!

i've been reading your blog, and i knew that u were moving. wow, such a big move. glad that u like the new place and both u and dawson have already made new friends and settled in. in fact we are also starting to look for a bigger house too. with kids, space never seems to be enough. hopefully, we can spot something within a couple months.
dawson has grown so big now, and looks exactly like a mini dave. the diarrhea sounds awful. happy that he's fine now. u take care yourself too.

I'm so sorry you two were so sick, but I'm glad you both are all better now. It's SO great to hear that you love your place so much. I'm going to have to ask you to put in a good word for us there if we get stationed in San Diego next! lol
