Dave had to work late last night so he was hoping the kids would sleep in a little but that hardly ever happens. Poor guy! Dawson woke up just before 7 and was excited that the Easter bunny had come! I got him to cuddle in bed with me for a few minutes before he just couldn't contain his excitement any longer and wanted to go wake up Ashlynn. Ashlynn was actually a little annoyed when Dawson woke her up and wanted to sleep a little longer (that's my girl! ;) ) but when he reminded her that it was Easter and the Easter bunny had hid their eggs she perked up pretty quickly!
I didn't get any pictures or video of them finding their Easter eggs, I meant to but was just having fun with them in the moment so I didn't think about it. I'm glad I thought to video them finding their Easter baskets, though, because it was a lot of fun. I need to get Ashlynn to talk more when I'm recording so I can always look back at her sweet little voice. Anyway, here's a couple videos of them running around to find their baskets. (Hopefully the videos work, I'm trying a new way to add them)
Dawson got a Magic Tree House journal that he has been wanting for awhile now and also books 31 and 32 in the Magic Tree House series. He was SO excited about getting those! He also got a squirt gun and a couple other outdoor toys and a little bit of candy! Ashlynn got a My Little Pony art studio book, two reading books, a squirt gun, some outdoor toys and a little bit of candy too. After they found their baskets and had some time to go through them I made breakfast.
Ashlynn thought the little "chicks" were too cute to eat. She hugged and kissed them and told me she wasn't going to eat them and she didn't. We might have a future vegetarian on our hands! She's definitely an animal lover... we all are (I'm just not a pet lover) but she's got a special connection with animals. I call her my animal whisperer.
A little later I made some eggs that she would eat. She loved the deviled eggs!
Dave had to go to work around lunchtime which was a bummer. I hope sometime in the near future he'll have at least one weekend day off, it would be nice to have a whole day off together. I know I technically don't work but I usually have Collin 5 days a week plus I do school with Dawson and Dave has some of those days off but we can't really do what we want, ya know? I'm not complaining, it would just be nice to have a weekend day off together. :)
Me and the kids went to my mom's for dinner and another Easter egg hunt. My dad made a yummy dinner, it was nice to just hangout. I did get a few pictures of the kids at Nana's and Papa's looking for eggs in the yard...
I like Ashlynn's hand on her hip. Dawson beat her to an egg that she was going for. She was a good sport about it but you can see her little attitude peaking out :)
It was a really fun weekend. :) :) I love my little family!
