Family Day!

Yesterday was Dave's day off and I didn't have Collin so we decided to make it a fun family day!!! We started off by going to lunch at Olive Garden. Dawson decided that their breadsticks are one of his favorite foods! The Olive Garden is in the parking lot of the mall so afterward we decided to walk over there and check out the Hallmark Store. Dave knows I love to check out their Disney stuff, especially the Disney stuff by Jim Shore. I love it! After that we headed to the Planetarium. Me and the kids have been learning about our solar system and planets and Dave has wanted to take Dawson to the Planetarium for a year now and since Dawson is so interested in that stuff we figured it would be fun to take a little family field trip. Both Dawson and Ashlynn love looking for Orion's Belt when we're out at night. And sometimes Ashlynn can even find it faster than Dawson can!!!

Anyway, when we first got there we went to see Back to the Moon in the Dome Theatre. It was a little too much for me!! The last couple of years I've been getting motion sickness and even though we weren't really movie, the effects of the dome made it feel like we were. Ick. Dawson enjoyed the movie, though! After that we just walked around looking at all the exhibits.

We walked around the gift shop and each of the kids got some glowing stars to put up on their ceiling. We let them choose their souvenir. At first Dawson wanted this rock that he was calling a "moon rock" they had them all lined up on the counter next to the register. He wasn't sure if they were for sale, and instead of asking me he decided to ask the lady that was working behind the counter. He said, "Excuse me. Are these available to buy?" She told him they were and then looked at me and said that was cutest question I have even gotten. And just like that Dawson won over another stranger. Seriously, every where we go he has people falling in love with him. He spreads joy, that's for sure!

After we finished up there we decided to head to City Creek to visit the Disney Store. Ashlynn has been wanting this little Pluto plush for awhile so we got it for her and Dawson picked out a small Goofy plush. They were both happy campers. After that we ate dinner at Johnny Rockets and shared milkshakes with the kids.

 

We stopped in the game store before we left City Creek to see if they had the LCR game, which they did but we saw one on Amazon that comes in a nice tin so we decided to wait. After that we stopped by Trader Joe's to pick up a few things and then headed home. It was a lovely day!
