The kids and I went up to Bear Lake with our family last weekend. Dave was unable to go because of work and we missed him! We had so much fun that we decided we're going to make it an annual tradition so now that we know we're going next year Dave will have plenty of time to get it off work. This year was sort of a last minute trip, planned only a couple of weeks before we went.
Here was the view from our cabin deck.
The first day that we were there is was raining on and off. It was relaxing to just watch the rain and check out the awesome rainbows!
The next day we went out on the boat. We had to take turns because there were so many of us. When it wasn't our turn in the boat we spent it on this little beachy area. It wasn't that great but the kids loved it and were having fun.
My dad let Dawson drive the boat a few times. He loved it.
Me and my princess.
After Dawson drove the boat, Ashlynn wanted to drive it, too!
Me and my handsome.
Aunt Stephy and Ashlynn.
Papa!
The kids playing on the the little beachy area.
The second day we drove about 10 miles from our cabin to a much nicer beach on the other side of the lake. The sand was much better here!
And we loved the little waves that were coming up to shore
The boat pulling some people on the tube
I don't have any pictures of it but the kids talked me into going on the tube with them. I'm not a huge fan of water, I don't mind swimming pools and being in the boat but being in water scares me and the tube is a little out of my comfort zone. The kids really wanted to ride, though, and I didn't want them to go without me so I sucked it up and went with them. It's a 3 seater tube. So Ashlynn was on my lap, Dawson was on Darby's lap and Arika was riding in the third seat. Well, apparently that was too much weight. As soon as my dad gave the boat a tiny bit of gas (before our ride had even really started but we had just passed the buoys) the tube tipped over and we were all in the water. As I mentioned I am scared of the water anyway, having my kids in the water, too, made it 10 times worse. I felt like I was having a panic attack, I couldn't breathe!!! The kids were freaking out, screaming for me. Thankfully we were all wearing life jackets so we were fine but I did my best to hold the kids up the best that I could. I felt better knowing I had a hold of them. Oh, and did I mention the water was FREEZING?! It was in the low 50's. Arika helped me calm down (got my breathing under control) so I could try to get the kids to calm down while we waited for my dad to turn the boat around. It only took him a minute or two to get to us but it felt like FOREVER!! He tried to talk us into getting back out there and trying again but the kids didn't want to and honestly neither did I!! Thankfully the kids weren't scared of the boat after that so we went for leisurely boat ride. I couldn't thank Arika enough for calming me down so I could talk to the kids and let them know we were ok. Oh and Arika's seat was on the back of the tube. She actually stayed on the tube when it tipped forward but jumped in when she saw all of us in the water. She's my hero. ♥
The kiddos building sand castles.
With our cabin rental we got a $200 voucher to rent some toys. So we got this water trampoline for a few hours.
The photo above is Ashlynn in her little "tent" that she made under the coffee table. She was pretending to sleep in there.
And the picture below is Ashlynn in the little "tent" that I made her. I didn't feel comfortable letting her run around with the bigger kids and I was getting tired of chasing her down so I made the pack n play extra fun for her. haha She colored in there for about 30 minutes before she wanted to get out. It was a nice little break for me!
Making smores on the deck. We had to use the grill because fire pits are not allowed unless the property already has one.
We took this picture right before we left to go home. Bronson's friend Jace took the picture so he's missing from it.
My cousin Isaac, Travis, Arika, Bronson, Becca, Hailee, my uncle Larry and aunt Stephy, Andy, my cousins Darby and Chad, Papa, Nana, Brandee, Carson, Me, Drea, Ashlynn and Dawson.
Here's Ashlynn passed out on our way home (it's about a 2 hour drive). I was happy I kept them in their PJs! I knew they'd be more comfortable that way.
This is out of order but I have to share. The first day that we went boating, while we were on the boat, Dawson told me he had to pee. I knew our ride was almost over and I knew he'd be walking in waist deep water when we got off the boat so I told him to hold it and then just go in the water when we got off.
So we get off the boat and we're walking to the beach. There's this little island in the water that we walk over to get to the beach. So instead of just peeing in the water, while he's in waist deep water, Dawson walks to the island, pulls down his pants, and pees. Not exactly how I imagined it happening but it was hilarious!! There were people sitting on the beach, too, thankfully they thought it was pretty hilarious, too!
It was such a fun trip!!! I already can't wait for next year!!
